 I) Program for Surgical Management

 

        A) Preoperative Program-Optimal preparation for any of the bariatric procedures is crucial to

            the safety and success of the procedure and your long-term outcome.

 

             1) Nutritional Program:

       -Pre and Post-surgery nutritional counseling

       -Unlimited nutritional support up to one year post-surgery

       -Pre-operative nutrition class that cover post-surgery diet plan, eating techniques, 

        vitamins, minerals, protein supplements, and understanding the food label

                   -Educational handouts on diet and nutrition

 

             2) Psychosocial Support Program

                   -Counseling (individual, family, and group)

                         

                   As part of our program fee, you will have access to our counseling staff.  You may

                   choose to use our social worker for your required pre-surgical psychological assessment.

                   In addition, experienced counselors and graduate level interns are available to you as

                   necessary both before and after surgery, with the goal of assisting you in developing

                   new strategies to modify unhealthy eating behaviors and to develop healthier coping

                   skills.  You may be helped by behavior modification, cognitive therapy, and/or

                   addressing social and emotional issues that may impede progress through your weight

                   loss journey.   Additional referrals may be given as needed to assist you in increasing

                   the overall quality of life following bariatric surgery.

 

                   The counseling staff strongly encourages support group attendance for all patients.  It

                   has been proven that patients using support groups and who develop strong support

                   systems are more likely to acheive and maintain a healthy weight over the long term.
